About Michele



Michele Martinelli is the Town Clerk for the Town of Niskayuna.   Born and raised in Schenectady, Michele received her undergraduate degree from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York, and her Master's in Public Administration from Marist College in Poughkeepsie. 

Michele began her career in public service with an internship for Assemblyman John McCann in the New York State Assembly.    After a brief time working as a Legal Coordinator for Bogdan and Faist, PC, Michele began working for the County of Schenectady.  During her career at the Department of Motor Vehicles, she served as the Deputy County Clerk and supervised fourteen full-time employees who serviced an average of three hundred fifty customers per day.  While working in the capacity of Deputy County Clerk, Michele coordinated with County Stop DWI Coordinator, District Attorney and the County Clerk to develop a New Driver Packet.  She was also a member of the Schenectady County Traffic Safety Board and is a Democratic Committee person for the Town of Niskayuna and serves as the Committee's Recording Secretary.

In 2011, Michele was elected Niskayuna Town Clerk, and she is running for a third term.   In 2012, Michele became a member of the Albany Schenectady County Town Clerk’s Association, and in 2014 she was elected president of that Association. Michele is also a member of the New York Town Clerks Association and a member of the New York State Association of Local Government Records Officers.

In her spare time, Michele is busy with her family and enjoys skiing and kayaking.   She and her husband David have raised four children in Niskayuna, all of whom have graduated from college and have moved on to careers of their own.
